Calvi Sainte-Catherine Airport is celebrating a historic milestone in 2024, having reached a record passenger figure of 400,226! This exceptional performance, exceeding forecasts of 394,508 passengers, represents an increase of 37,685 passengers compared with 2023. It demonstrates the ongoing efforts and unwavering commitment of the Corsican Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) and its teams to develop the airport and meet travellers’ growing expectations.
Significant growth in OSP lines
Passenger numbers on routes subject to Public Service Obligations (PSOs) remain strong, with 262,993 passengers carried on the three routes covered by these obligations (Paris Orly, Marseille and Nice); this traffic represents an increase of 9% (+21,238 passengers) compared with 2023 and 14% (+31,629 passengers) compared with 2014. This growth is largely due to changes in the PSO specifications, which have enabled:
• Same-day return journeys between Calvi and Nice, making it easier to travel for both business and personal reasons; ;
• An extra service on Sundays on the Marseille line during the summer season, in response to increased demand; ;
• An increase in the number of seats available.
Strong growth in non-OSP traffic
In 2024, 137,233 passengers travelled via non-OSP routes, representing a remarkable increase of 14 % compared with the previous year, or 16,447 additional passengers. Over the past decade, this growth has been even more significant, with an increase of 44 % compared with 2014, when 95 172 passengers were recorded.
Domestic traffic outside the Public Service Obligation (OSP) is a particularly clear reflection of this trend, illustrating the airport’s growing appeal. In 2024, 64,968 passengers were handled, representing a near doubling from 95% over ten years (33,357 passengers in 2014). Compared with 2023, this segment has grown by 10 %, representing an additional 5,862 passengers.
International traffic outside the OSP framework also illustrates the airport’s growing appeal. In 2024, 72,225 international passengers were handled, representing an increase of 17 % compared with 2023 (61,640 passengers, +10,585 passengers). This growth is driven in particular by routes connecting the airport to seven different countries, notably Switzerland (20,859 passengers), Austria (16,732 passengers) and Germany (11,780 passengers), reflecting the diversity and expansion of the international connections on offer.
These figures confirm the dynamism and enduring appeal of our infrastructure, both nationally and internationally.
Sustained growth in business and general aviation
The investments made in 2020 to modernise the infrastructure dedicated to business and general aviation have significantly enhanced the airport’s appeal and dynamism. Thanks to the redevelopment of these areas with the support of the Corsican Regional Authority, flight movements have seen a remarkable increase, reaching more than 2,900 in 2024 – a rise of 579 % compared with 429 in 2019.
