History

Throughout its history, Calvi Sainte-Catherine Airport has established itself firmly in the local area and become an integral part of the economy of the region it serves.

1945: The US Air Force built Calvi airfield on private land during the Second World War

1956: The State bought the aerodrome.

A temporary authorisation order was signed on 12 May, under which the Corsican EPCI became the airport’s operator.

1958: Construction of the first building with a control tower

Capacity of 500,000 passengers

2005: Further extension of the terminal building to accommodate checked-in luggage and security staff

2009: Certification of the runway and launch of the general and business aviation centre

2013: Aviation improvement works

2020: Creation of a business and general aviation car park

2023: Labelling and certification

Aérobio LEVEL 1 certification achieved. This certification demonstrates the investment and commitment on the part of the Corsican Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) and the airport teams to sustainable development and environmental protection & Awarded ‘REDUCTION’ level certification, in recognition of the measures taken to reduce CO₂ emissions
