AEROBIO-DIVERSITY

With a large meadow that is ideal for supporting biodiversity, our organisation is committed to promoting the protection of flora and fauna whilst complying with aviation and regulatory requirements.

Since late 2022, our platform has been a member of the AéroBiodiversité association, and we have adopted a responsible approach aimed at gaining a better understanding of the flora, fauna and other inhabitants of the aerodrome. This membership demonstrates the commitment of the Corsican Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) and the airport teams to environmental conservation.

In 2023, 80 plant species³¹, 52 species of birds, including 24 species are protected in France, 9 species of bat and a European hare.

Over the past year (2023), the AéroBiodiversité Association carried out three protocol visits.

Key point: No plant protection products were used

The Aéro Biodiversité Association aims to assess and promote biodiversity at airports, identify best practices and foster collaboration between stakeholders in the aviation sector to promote a more natural approach to land management that respects biodiversity, whilst taking into account operational constraints, particularly those relating to aviation safety.

AIRPORT CARBON ACCREDITATION

The airport has embarked on a programme to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by joining the Airport Carbon Accreditation scheme

The Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) programme, run by ACI (Airport Council International), independently assesses and recognises the efforts made by airports to manage and reduce carbon emissions across seven levels of certification.

A comprehensive, institutionally recognised certification scheme for the management of airports’ carbon emissions
Independently assesses and recognises the efforts made by airports to manage and reduce their carbon emissions through four levels of certification: Mapping, Reduction, Optimisation and Neutrality
Enables airports to access different levels of carbon emissions management and carbon neutrality tailored to airports of all sizes

Why get involved?

The island airports managed by the CCI are committed to a programme of sustainable development and ecological transition in order to preserve the region’s environmental heritage. It is therefore important to adopt a long-term approach, with objectives focused primarily on assessing and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
