Counterfeits
The import and export of counterfeit goods constitute a customs offence.
The buyer:
- The mere possession of a forgery is punishable by fines or imprisonment,
- May be harmful to one’s health (counterfeit alcohol, perfumes and cosmetics),
- It undermines the country’s industrial heritage and expertise, and funds criminal networks.
Currencies
Since 15 June 2007, you must declare to French customs any sums of money, securities or valuables being carried across the borders of the European Union where the total value is €10,000 or more. This applies regardless of whether you are a French resident or not.

Formalities
Certain goods are prohibited or are subject to specific regulations when entering or leaving a European Union country.
